It’s paddling season which means it’s time to brush up on some skills. You can be a new paddler or just looking for some pro-tips; we’re here to help! While the RRT staff loves to share their experiences we are super lucky to have special guest Danny Mongno with NRS join us.
The Forward Stroke: Sit down or stand up, let’s be efficient.
To enjoy the sport of paddling we need an efficient Forward Stroke. We want to use less energy, stay out longer, maybe go faster, and not be sore. So, it makes sense that the Forward Stroke gets so much attention from students and coaches alike. Join us at the shop as we host paddling coach, Danny Mongno, for an evening of indoor coaching. His simple philosophy breaks things down into a very easy to follow, step by step process. This is an interactive class, so be ready to participate and have fun. To wrap things up, Danny will send you off with exercises to do at home, to help develop your new techniques. In this class we will address skills for kayakers, stand up paddlers and canoeists. Within the process, paddlers from very beginner to an advanced intermediate skill will have things to take away.
Danny Mongno – Bio
“Since my initial introduction to paddling in 1988, it has remained a favorite past time. Rafting is awesome, especially for multi-day trips. I SUP race, tour, and run whitewater. I fish from a kayak, run rapids, and love to play in the ocean. I even did my first ever canoe race in the Adirondacks. Best of all I get to enjoy paddling with my best friend, my wife Celeste, and our awesome dog Teddy.” Danny Mongno comes to us from our friends at NRS, bringing decades of experience as a paddling coach. When not on the water, find Danny on a trail bike, out for a run, strapped into a snowboard, at the Nordic center, or at a favorite hangout of paddlers… the bar stool.
